Temporary Art Space Opens at 75 Wall Street

June 9, 2010-NEW YORK, NY-KiptonART signed a six-month lease for its newest pop-up “Access” space at Hyatt’s Andaz Hotel, located at 75 Wall Street cornering Pearl and Water Streets. Winick Realty Group’s Darrell Rubens, senior managing director, and Annie Shinn are the exclusive brokers for the 2,200-square-foot retail space at 75 Wall Street.

“Rather than have the space sit vacant while we find the ideal long-term tenant, we felt the art exhibitions produced by KiptonART would be the best fit for the building and the surrounding area,” said Shinn, who represented both the tenant and landlord along with Rubens. Andaz guests will receive VIP passes for the opening parties of certain exhibits, which will also be heavily promoted by the Downtown Alliance. “They were very helpful in facilitating this deal,” said Rubens. “The Downtown Alliance is a beneficial resource and great for downtown.”

KiptonART was founded in 2002 with the mission to give artists “access by maximizing exposure for emerging artists, broadcasting their work through a variety of channels and introducing them to high-powered collectors and tastemakers.” The organization opened its first exhibit in the space, “Fine Future Perfect,” with a successful opening party on June 8. The exhibit, which opened to the public on June 9, features work from seven artists whose work combines the genres of portraiture, still life and fashion to create “a portfolio of clarity, purpose and optimism.”

75 Wall Street

After 5-years of stability and support for emerging artists, KiptonART.com has set up camp on the footsteps of the New York Stock Exchange, opening its doors at 75 Wall Street. Even through the turbulence of New York’s Financial District, the KiptonART pop-up gallery (currently the closest sign of art in the heart of the financial district) hosted an event on June 8th, with the New York City Ballet Young Patrons Circle.  In addition to the 5 year anniversary of KiptonART.com, the event was also a celebration of New York City Ballet’s ‘Dance With The Dancers’ June benefit kick-off. KiptonART.com, founded in 2005 by entrepreneur Kipton Cronkite, was built to allow artists who have always struggled for exposure to exhibit their visions both online and in pop-up locations.  In celebration of this truth, one of KiptonART’s curators and Director of Photography at the School of Visual Arts, Stephen Frailey selected seven young talents to exhibit at the 75 Wall Street “Access” location. Fine Future Perfect’s theme is a multi-media and photography exhibition with the template for that which is forthcoming, while not specifically motivated as a literal depiction of the future. The seven artists exhibiting include KiptonART Rising 2010 Winner Bon Duke, Ina Jang, KiptonART Rising 2009 Winner Naho Kubota, Cristian Mendez, Skye Nicolas, KiptonART Rising 2010 Finalists Reed+Rader and Richard Williamson.  The previously empty retail space was brought to life and includes new neighbors such as BMW, Cipriani Wall Street, Tumi, Tiffany’s, Thomas Pink and Hermes.  Deutsche and other financial corporations are steps away allowing the downtown financial community an innovative opportunity to view and purchase some of New York’s top emerging artists.
